In ancient Egypt, the #TAU symbol was thought to represent a phallus and
was also regarded as the marker for holy waters. Ancient mythology
associates the symbol with the Greek deity Attis and the Roman god Mithra

In ancient Egypt, the #TAU symbol was thought to represent a phallus and
